SOUTH AFRICA- New treatment guidelines for mothers and infants

From 1st of April 2010 the South African government will be implementing new guidleines on the treatment of pregnant women, infants and children living with HIV , expanding what is already the world's largest ARV programme.
The new recommendations if effective could reduce infant and maternal mortality related to HIV  by providing treatment for HIV postive infants under 1 year old regardless of CD4 count and pregnant women with CD4 counts of 350.
